Alison Donnelly recently joined the Harvard Library as the director of financial planning and analysis. She worked most recently as finance director at Pearson in its Higher Education, Learning Technologies Group. Donnelly holds a BA in economics from Colgate University and an MBA in finance and international management from the NYU Stern School of Business.

Marilyn Morgan, manuscript cataloger at Schlesinger Library, taught the summer course “Gender, Food and Culture in American History,” exploring ways in which food is a shared cultural experience that is reflective of gender, race and class. Morgan has worked for the Harvard Library for eight years. She holds a PhD in American history, an MA in history and a BA in French.

John Overholt, curator of the Donald and Mary Hyde Collection of Dr. Samuel Johnson and of Early Modern Books and Manuscripts at Houghton Library, will appear on You're the Expert, a live show at the Boston Book Festival on October 19, 2013 during which comedians will try to guess exactly what a special collections curator does. Tickets are available here. Overholt has worked at Harvard since 2004. He holds a BA in political science from Washington University in St. Louis and an MSLIS from the University of Texas at Austin.

Juliane Schneider, metadata librarian at the Countway Library of Medicine, was elected to serve a three-year term as the division cabinet chair for the Special Libraries Association (SLA). She will be part of the five-person board of directors—responsible for the governance of its 23 Divisions and for organizing the 2015 Leadership Summit. Schneider has an MS in library science and an MS in information systems from Drexel University.

90 Mt. Auburn Street Staff were the participation winners of the Harvard Real Estate Summer Energy competition, with 100 percent of staff members who work in the building choosing to take part. Steven Brzozowski, staff assistant in Library Administration, coordinated the challenge on a building-wide level. Hank Sway, systems librarian for LTS; Kim Dunne, staff assistant in Preservation, Conservation and Digital Imaging; and Karen Walter, senior conservation technician for PCDI, coordinated the challenge for their individual floors.
