June 25, 2013—At 625 Massachusetts Avenue, which houses many staff members in Harvard Library’s Information and Technical Services (ITS), lunchtime is an opportunity to slip away from work and take just a few steps to an art museum. Staff discuss the pieces that fill the walls of the room, brightening the space and showcasing the—otherwise hidden—artistic abilities of many of the people who work in ITS.

Sarah Adams was named the Richard F. French Librarian of the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library. Adams joined the Library in 1995 as project librarian for the Répertoire Internationale des Sources Musicale (RISM), an international cooperative project to document musical sources. June 18, 2013—At a recent meeting, the Harvard Library Board approved a mission statement for the Harvard Library:
The Harvard Library advances scholarship and teaching by committing itself to the creation, application, preservation and dissemination of knowledge.
Drafting the first University-wide library mission statement was an early task of the Library Leadership Team (LLT). In March of this year, the LLT circulated an early draft and consulted with faculty members, members of the library staff and other key constituents in open sessions and online. June 18, 2013—It is not unusual for a visitor to the Harvard Law School Library’s Historical & Special Collections (HSC) reading room to ask a librarian for a particular item and then stay and chat about his or her research for a long time, said Jane Kelly, HSC assistant for the Harvard Law School Library.
