It seems like big data is everywhere you look. And in a way, it is: Maps, medical scans, and weather charts are commonplace forms of data visualization. Each was examined during “Thinking with Your Eyes,” a two-day conference that brought together experts in the arts, sciences, humanities, and technology—as well as academic and computing groups from across Harvard—to investigate how graphic representation brings knowledge to life. I write to advise you of an event that may impact traffic for Wednesday afternoon.
The Harvard University Police Department has learned from the Cambridge Police Department that there will be a high-profile dignitary visiting the Harvard Square tomorrow afternoon between 4:00pm and 6:30pm and the visit will have a significant impact on vehicular traffic. This visit is not connected to the University.
The following streets and roads will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic:
- JFK Street to Mt Auburn Street
- South at Dunster Street

March 4, 2014—Sarah Thomas, vice president for the Harvard Library and Roy E. Larsen Librarian of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, addressed staff members at two sessions in Langdell Hall on February 27, 2014. Her presentation included updates on her visits to Harvard’s libraries, the FY15 budget submission, the Campaign, the Discovery Platform Initiative, the MOU review, staff development and proposals to improve communication and decision-making across the libraries.
