    Access Information:The Reading Room is open to all researchers regardless of academic affiliation. Those wishing to use the library must register at the Reading Room desk by presenting two forms of identification that include a photograph and proof of current address.
    Circulation Policy:No materials circulate; all materials are examined in the Reading Room.
    Holdings Description:Primary repository for Harvard's rare books and manuscripts. Collections focus on the study of Western Civilization, particularly European and American history and literature. The collections are especially strong in manuscripts, printing and graphic arts, and theatre history.
    Services:Houghton Library does not participate in an interlibrary loan program. Equipment and facilities available: slide projector/table/viewer, microfiche reader/printer, microfilm reader/printer, light table, ultra violet light, and other equipment for examining books and manuscripts as physical objects.
    Resources for Persons with Disabilities:Houghton's front door is accessible via a flight of steps up from the level of Quincy Street. Alternative access without stairways may be arranged by phoning the Librarian's Office at 617-495-2441.
