Access Information:The library is open to all researchers who present a valid institutional ID and register at the Circulation Desk.
Circulation Policy:Borrowing privileges are extended to all those with a current Harvard ID or a Harvard College Library Special Borrower Card, which can be obtained at the Library Privileges Office at Widener Library.
Holdings Description:Research collection focusing on humanities and social sciences relating to East Asia (China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam) in East Asian and Western languages.

Reserve materials for courses in East Asian studies.

Special collections include: East Asian rare books and manuscripts; Chinese rubbings; Tibetan and Mongolian Tripitaka; Manchu publications; Rock Collections (Nakhi manuscripts); Protestant missions in China; Petzold Collection (Japanese Buddhism); Hedda Morrison Collection (photographs); Drew Collection (photographs); Fitch Papers (YMCA in China); Lingnan University Trustees' Archives; Hu Han-min Papers; Pickens Collection (Muslims in China); Canaday Papers (British-American Tobacco Co.); Hausmann Archive (Tiananmen Archive.

Services:Harvard-Yenching Library interlibrary loan privileges are extended to current affiliates of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Equipment and facilities available: Microfiche reader/scanner and reader/printer, microfilm reader/printer and reader/scanner, photocopiers (Crimson Cash and coin-operated), self-service scanner.

Resources for Persons with Disabilities:Access for persons with disabilities to the Reading Room is available at the side entrance of the building. Persons with disabilities wishing to visit the library should telephone Access Services in advance at 617-495-2756 to make arrangements for assistance. An accessible restroom and telephone are available.
