Circulation Policy:Excepting reference books and periodicals, books circulate ONLY for a period of 7 days to holders of regular Harvard IDs. No exceptions. Information regarding fines may be obtained by calling the Librarian at 617 495-3838. Materials from the former Psychology Research Library may be used in Library only, materials from Depository will be recalled to the Soc. Rel. Library for use.
Holdings Description:Summary description of collection: Books and journals of interest in the field of sociology as well as materials relating to the areas of personality, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and some developmental psychology are represented in the collection. There is a special collection of undergraduate theses for both Sociology and Psychology. Some monographic and serial publications retained after the closing of the Psychology Research Library. MATERIALS NOT HELD:Social Sciences Citation Index; this is in Widener. Size of collection: 24,534 volumes; 161 serial titles currently received. Expanded description of collection: Books and journals of interest in the field of sociology, as well as materials relating to the areas of personality, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and some developmental psychology are represented in the collection. There is a special collection of undergraduate theses for both Sociology and Psychology. Current periodicals, Referrence materials, closed reserve materials and other unique monographic and serial titles from the now CLOSED Psychology Research Library will be housed in this collection.
Services:Internal ILL Policy: HARVARD>> The Social Relations/Sociology Library provides photocopies only, without charge, to other Harvard Libraries. Photocopies will be provided only if in compliance with copyright restrictions and as staffing levels permit; consult Librarian. External ILL Policy: NON-HARVARD>> The Social Relations/Sociology Library does not lend materials but will provide photocopies, in compliance with copyright restrictions, to any library outside Harvard that provides a written request. Prepayment is required. ILL Borrowing Policy: BORROWING>> The Social Relations/Sociology Library does not borrow materials for patrons. Equipment and facilities available: Photocopier (coin operated) in entry area of Library (as of 09/17/01) we are awaiting a new copier, following renovations.
Resources for Persons with Disabilities:The library is on the ground floor of William James Hall. However, the second level of the library, containing the library's bound periodicals, is not wheelchair accessible. Patrons needing special assistance should call in advance.
