Access Information:Library access is limited to Harvard students, faculty and staff. Other researchers and students are generally welcome (Monday to Friday only), but should request permission from the librarian. Only Harvard students, faculty, and staff may borrow books.
Circulation Policy:Journals do not circulate. Books circulate for four weeks and should be renewed online in Aleph. Books are subject to recall after two weeks if needed by another patron and subject to immediate recall if needed for course reserve.
Holdings Description:Summary description of collection: Biology, with emphasis on molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and developmental biology. MATERIALS NOT HELD:Agriculture; clinical medicine Size of collection: 28,000 volumes; 225 subscriptions Expanded description of collection: The Bio Labs Library collects graduate level texts, research monographs and serials in biology. Emphasis is on molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, plant and animal physiology, microbiology, immunology, neurobiology, and ecology.
Services:Internal ILL Policy: HARVARD: Biological Laboratories Library lends circulating materials to remote Harvard libraries (such as Baker, Countway, and Wohlbach) and for course reserve shelves to any Harvard library, as well as providing photocopies free of charge to Harvard libraries. The lending period is four weeks, with renewals for an additional four weeks if the book is not needed by another patron. Items are subject to immediate recall if needed for our course reserve shelves. External ILL Policy: NON-HARVARD: Biological Laboratories Library lends circulating materials to libraries in the U.S. and Canada for a fee of {dollar}20. The lending period is four weeks. Photocopies up to 50 pages can be provided for a fee of {dollar}15. ALA form required. ILL Borrowing Policy: BORROWING: Biological Laboratories Library will borrow from non-Harvard and remote Harvard libraries for graduate students, faculty, and staff of the departments of Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Equipment and facilities available: Networked computers with WWW browsers and online search capabilities, connected to printer Photocopier (Crimson Cash operated)
