| Access Information: | Borrowing privileges are confined to Fellows who are currently in residence. No books leave the building and outgoing interlibrary loan is confined to photocopied pages, due to the fragility of the collection. Visiting scholars are welcome to use the collection if they telephone beforehand and agree to follow policies for use of the library. |
| Circulation Policy: | Fellows currently in residence may borrow
books from the library to take to their studies (adjacent
to the library). No books leave the building. Books are
signed out for an indefinite period during the academic
year. All materials, except some reference books, may be borrowed.

| Holdings Description: | Summary description of collection: Ancient Greek literature, civilization and culture;ancient philosophy, history, art and archaeology; Latin authors with critical apparatus.
MATERIALS NOT HELD:Pre-history; post-classical and modern Greek history, literature and civilization; current reports of archaeological sites; serials of the foreign Academies.
Size of collection: 44,000 volumes; 110 periodicals
Expanded description of collection: Approximately all texts of Greek classical authors;
many texts of Latin authors, both categories in the original
language, with translations and critical apparatus in English,
German, French or Italian, depending on the edition. Secondary
literature in history, philosophy and religion. Less substantial
holdings in art, archaeology and architecture, the social
sciences (all relating to classical Greece or Rome). Some
materials in the period of later antiquity. Periodical
holdings in all these areas often go back to the earliest
issues.

| Services: | Internal ILL Policy:
HARVARD: The Center for Hellenic Studies provides ILL sevices to all Harvard libraries. Interlibrary loan policy states that xeroxed copies of items will be sent at the discretion of the library staff. Due to the fragility of books and journals, no materials are mailed in the original format.
External ILL Policy:
NON-HARVARD: The library provides photocopying services for non-Harvard Libraries for a fee.
ILL Borrowing Policy:
BORROWING: Every attempt is made to obtain books and journals for Junior Fellows currently in residence.
