| Holdings Description: | Summary description of collection: The CES Library is a small library providing basic monographs, journals and newspapers for the study of the history, culture, politics and sociology of modern Europe.
Back issues of daily newspapers - 2-3 weeks
Size of collection: 13,000 monographs; 87 periodicals.
Expanded description of collection: The CES Library attempts to provide students and faculty with a representative sample of the major monographs dealing with modern Europe since approximately the French Revolution. It also maintains collections, space permitting, of the most important periodicals in the field. Focus includes history, culture, sociology, politics, and economics. Because of the library's small size, emphasis is placed on basic monographs on widely-studied themes, and topics of excessive specialization are avoided. There is also certain but by no means exclusive emphasis on the post-1945 period.
