Dear colleagues,
To follow the rich discussions we had on the draft Harvard Library mission statement, the Library Leadership Team (LLT) prepared draft Harvard Library strategic objectives. We welcome input from library staff members on the four draft objectives noted below, and we invite suggestions on a fifth strategic objective on library staff professional development.
Our goal is to develop strategic objectives that specify what we accomplish best together in achieving the Harvard Library mission. Each objective connects to at least one of the specific foci of the mission statement.
Draft Harvard Library Strategic Objectives
Implementing a Harvard Library collection development policy in support of University-wide research, teaching and learning for today and the future.
Providing the broadest possible access to information (Harvard-created and other) through deliberate networks of expertise, information technology and global collaborations.
Delivering innovative and programmatic support for learning and research in partnership with faculty and other research and pedagogical support organizations.
Stewarding vulnerable and critical research information in partnership with academic and administrative functions across the University and beyond.
Additionally, we invite your thoughts on what to include in a fifth strategic objective on professional development. What approach might the Library take to ensure that current staff members have the means, knowledge and opportunity to achieve the strategic objectives and the mission of the Harvard Library?
Please plan to attend a session held by members of the LLT—a schedule of sessions is noted below. Or, if you prefer, please post your comments to the discussion forum or send them to library_leadership@harvard.edu.
