Managing Your Account
Managing your Records Center account helps to ensure that it is used efficiently and effectively. Records Management Services has several ways to help you manage your account.
RMS schedules records destruction events at the Records Center several times a year. If your office has records eligible for destruction according to our database of records in storage, we will provide you with a list of records eligible for destruction and ask for signed authorization to destroy the records. We will never destroy records without authorization. Details about the destruction event, including cost will be sent along with the list of eligible records.
Updating Authorized Users
Keeping your authorized user list up-to-date ensures that only current employees have access to your records and those new employees who need access are added to your account. If you would like to make changes to your authorized user list, please archives_rmsharvard [dot] edu (subject: Request%20for%20authorized%20user%20report) (request an authorized user report) from us.
We can provide you with a list of the records in the account that includes the last date of activity and the date when the boxes are eligible to be reviewed for destruction or transferred to the Archives. You can use the inventory to find and retrieve files, better understand the records you have in storage, identify records ready for destruction or transfer to the University Archives, and plan for your next transfer.
