Using the Collections: Reproductions

Reproductions

Reproductions of Archives collections are provided for personal research use. For information regarding permission to publish reproductions, see Permissions.

Researchers may use digital cameras to create personal reference copies, subject to reference staff approval.

The University Archives can provide digital reproductions or photocopies of most holdings, depending on the physical condition and format of the originals.

Digital Reproductions

Low-resolution reference copies may be ordered, subject to certain limitations (size, format, and physical condition of originals). The cost is approximately $1 per page, with a turnaround time of three weeks. Please consult the reference staff for details.

High-resolution digital copies of Archives collections, including photographs and other visual materials, can be ordered. Costs depend on the size and format of originals, with additional service and delivery fees. Turnaround time is approximately six weeks.

In both cases, pre-payment by check or cash is required. Checks should be made payable to the Harvard University Archives. Credit cards are not accepted at this time.

Please submit copy requests in writing, using a copy request form, available in the reading room, or by sending a message to archives_reference@harvard.edu. Requests must include specific citations, including call numbers, for each item.
